Job Title: QA Engineer / Product Operations Engineer

Job Location : Remote

Employment Type : Full Time

About the Client:

Our client is building a marketplace and AI platform for additive manufacturing. They help companies convert legacy, custom, and hard-to-source parts into 3D-printable parts, then match those parts with the right suppliers, materials, and manufacturing processes. They are looking for a strong CAD Engineer in India who can help create, modify, reverse-engineer, and prepare parts for 3D printing.

Responsibilities:

Product QA & Testing

- Test customer and supplier web applications across core workflows.

- Validate user signup, login, part upload, file processing, printability analysis, supplier matching, RFQ creation, quote submission, and order flows.

- Create and maintain QA checklists, test cases, and regression test plans.

- Test across browsers, devices, file types, and edge cases.

- Identify bugs, reproduce them clearly, and document expected vs. actual behavior.

- Verify bug fixes before release.

- Help maintain release quality as new features ship quickly.

App Monitoring & Reliability

- Monitor production applications to make sure core workflows are online and functioning.

- Watch for failed uploads, broken pages, API errors, background job failures, and unusual customer behavior.

- Escalate critical issues quickly and help triage root causes.

- Help maintain uptime and customer trust by catching issues before customers do.

- Create simple internal dashboards or alerts for product health.

3D Printability Review

- Review customer-uploaded files including CAD, PDFs, drawings, and part metadata.

- Help assess whether parts appear suitable for 3D printing based on geometry, material, size, tolerance, and process constraints.

- Flag common printability issues such as thin walls, unsupported features, overhangs, small holes, tolerance risks, warping risk, poor file quality, or missing information.

- Work with engineering and domain experts to improve printability scoring and analysis workflows.

- Help build internal printability review checklists and part-classification processes.

- Compare automated printability outputs against human judgment and identify gaps.

Customer Behavior & Product Insights

- Analyze how customers are using the platform.

- Identify where users get stuck, abandon workflows, upload bad files, or fail to complete RFQs.

- Review support issues, customer feedback, uploaded part data, and usage patterns.

- Translate product usage observations into clear bug reports or product improvement suggestions.

- Help the team understand what customers are actually trying to do, not just what the software says they did.

Analytics & Reporting

- Create dashboards for product usage, customer activity, part uploads, RFQs, supplier responses, conversion funnels, and system errors.

- Track key metrics such as:

1. Signups

2. Active users

3. Part uploads

4. Upload success/failure rates

5. File types uploaded

6. Printability analysis completion rate

7. RFQs sent

8. Supplier quote response rate

9. Customer drop-off points

- Use tools such as Google Analytics, PostHog, Mixpanel, Metabase, Supabase, SQL, or similar platforms.

- Create weekly product quality and usage reports for the team.

Bug Fixing & Light Engineering

- Investigate bugs in the frontend, backend, APIs, database, or integrations.

- Make small code fixes independently where possible.

- Work with engineers on larger issues and provide clear reproduction steps.

- Help improve error handling, logging, validation, and user-facing messages.

- Review code changes from a QA and product reliability perspective.

- Contribute to internal tools, scripts, dashboards, or automation.

Required Skills:

- 2–5 years of experience in QA, technical support engineering, product operations, analytics, or software engineering.

- Strong ability to test web applications and document bugs clearly.

- Basic full-stack development ability, ideally with TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Node.js, SQL, and REST APIs.

- Ability to read code, debug issues, and make small fixes.

- Experience with browser dev tools, logs, network requests, APIs, and databases.

- Familiarity with analytics tools such as Google Analytics, PostHog, Mixpanel, Metabase, Looker Studio, Supabase, or SQL dashboards.

- Strong attention to detail and ability to catch edge cases.

- Comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment.

- Strong written communication skills.

- Ability to work independently and escalate issues clearly.

3D / Manufacturing Skills

Prior 3D printing experience is not mandatory, but the candidate should be excited to

learn additive manufacturing quickly.

Helpful skills include:

- Familiarity with CAD files such as STEP, STL, 3MF, IGES, DXF, DWG, and PDFs.

- Basic understanding of 3D printing processes such as FDM, SLS, MJF, SLA, and metal additive manufacturing.

- Ability to understand mechanical parts, drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and materials.

- Experience with slicers, CAD viewers, mesh repair tools, or 3D printing workflows.

- Interest in manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, industrial parts, or physical products.

Nice to Have:

- Experience with Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Jest, or automated testing.

- Experience setting up monitoring, alerts, or error tracking using tools like Sentry, Datadog, LogRocket, New Relic, or similar.

- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Render, Vercel, or Supabase.

- Experience with GitHub, pull requests, CI/CD, and deployment workflows.

- Experience with CAD, 3D printing, mechanical engineering, or manufacturing software.

- Experience building dashboards or writing SQL queries.

- Experience in a startup where responsibilities were broad and fast-moving.

Example Projects:

- Test whether a customer can upload a STEP file, get a printability analysis, and send an RFQ to suppliers.

- Identify why uploaded PDFs are failing to process and file a clear bug report with logs and reproduction steps.

- Create a dashboard showing daily part uploads, failed uploads, and RFQs sent.

- Review 20 uploaded parts and classify which ones look printable vs. risky.

- Find where customers are dropping off during onboarding.

- Fix a frontend validation bug that prevents suppliers from submitting quotes.

- Add better error messages when a CAD file cannot be processed.

- Create a weekly report showing product health and user behavior.
